Officially opened on May 1st 2008 with the children's author and poet Jonathan Meres entertaining children from Leslie Primary School.
Radical refurbishment was required for this library with particular emphasis on the existing split level arrangement to comply to DDA guidelines. A community room was included in the design layout, which enables its use out with library opening hours. Colouring was particularly important in the choice of furnishings for this library as were the graphics in the children's space which identified the Peak shelving.
A profile of Library Services Scotland appeared in the Gazette 16 May - 29 May 2008 issue featuring a photograph of the opening of Leslie Library.
